Gas prices are so high that picking the perfect car is becoming a bigger financial risk. Does anyone feel like shopping for a car leaves you confused or you just don’t have the time to research website after website and visit car dealerships?

  1. Its always been a huge decision. I think that, in the past, many people did not shop as smartly as they should have. We wound up with much more impulse buying before, than today.

Also, you now have much more information at your disposal. Interner sites can give you every detail about the car except for the driving experience.

If you want to avoid the dealership experience as much as possible, use the internet to your advantage. Going to manufacturer sites and submitting interest requests will get responses from dealers’ internet sales department. They will be able to ‘cut to the chase’ a lott better than floor people, and will be able to get you a strong deal off the bat.

Also, get your financing arranged before hand. If hte dealer can meet or beat it, then let them. Dealers make a little on financing as well. IF not, then you have it all sorted before you go in the door.

    Cheers - good luck

  2. I had the most horrible experience once at a VW dealership…”I” was the one looking for a car, and I made that clear, yet the sales person continually talked down to me, proceeded to only shake the hand of the male that I brought with me, and only spoke directly to him…I was like “uum hello, “I” would like to look at that car over there…and he continued to pretty much ignore me, and only talk to the male…ugh, needless to say, that pig didn’t get my business…sorry, if this didn’t answer your question,…just had to vent about car dealerships.

  3. I think its fun to shop for cars. When you know what you want and don’t buy all the add ons. (wax protection, extended warranty, undercoat etc) that’s where they make lots of money. You have to decide and hold your ground and if your close they usually will budge. If they get real pushy or talk to like a kid just walk. They aren’t the only dealer selling that make of car.

  4. It’s annoying, but you can always use something like AutoByTel.com. I have doen that 3 times, and it saves a lot of time. Just go test drive a few cars first.
